What Did (he) Really Step On?
He stepped on it. He stomped it into the ground, He pretended to wipe his ass with it. On that day, LenDale White thought he was taunting the entire Steeler Nation rubbing faces in a Titans 31-14 win, which locked up home-field advantage throughout the playoffs for the Titans.
LenDale White continued his mean-spirited ignorance telling ESPN's Paul Kuharsky: "I'm a professional towel stomper." "My nickname is LenDale 'The Towel Stomping' White."
Yet, what LenDale White did was more than stomp on a mere fan prop, even our battle banner of our Steeler Nation. On that day, LenDale White stepped all over the faces of many disabled and mentally retarded children and adults of the Allegheny Valley School, a live-in school forchildren with severe intellectual disabilities.
Sure, the Terrible Towel started as a marketing gimmick by the long-time voice of the Steelers, Myron Cope. Yet, in short order, Myron gave the towel to the Allegheny Valley School, which has received more than $2.5 million from every member of the Steeler Nation who waves the Towel on game day. The father of a mentally disabled son, Myron Cope donated EVERY DIME to the Pittsburgh area school that cared for his son and countless other severely mentally disabled children.
To us of the Steeler Nation who know the origin and story of the Terrible Towel, we see stomping on the Towel as a sin. When LenDale enters Heinz Field for our season opener and the league opener,Thursday, September 10, at night, we know our Steelers defense we'll protect more than our end zone. We know they're going to protect more than a fan prop or an idea. Our team shall protect the many of the Allegheny Valley School who are a special part of our Steeler Nation.
Us in the Steeler Nation show our Steeler Spirit every time we display our Terrible Towels. Sure, we do so to spur on our beloved Steelers to victory. Yet, every Towel we buy, we spur on Special Steelers to victory in their lives.
Come join us on Game Day, free, on Paltalk in the Steelers Black n Gold Post room. We'll be there, rooting on our beloved Steelers.
Here we go!
Just so you remember:
