Our Steeler for a day, Heather Miller who has touched the hearts of all of us here at Steeler Nation, will be attending the NFL season opener on Thursday, September the 10th when our Pittsburgh Steelers host the Tennessee Titans. The tickets were given to Heather as a surprise from Troy Polamalu.

Heather Miller who is fighting Ewing's Sarcoma, now has a date for the upcoming surgery to remove a nodule from her lung. The operation is scheduled for Friday, September 11th.

Friday's surgery will not be the only reason for a trip to Pittsburgh for Heather this week. On Tuesday the 8th, Heather was interviewed by Tiki Barber from the Today Show. Troy Polamalu and Casey Hampton joined Heather in the interview.

The interview was conducted at the Steelers Training facitility. The interview will air on Thursday the 10th, between 8-9AM on the Today Show.

Heather our prayers are with you always and on Friday, you will be deep in our thoughts.

                            STEELER FOR A DAY/CONTINUED

Hello everyone of the Steeler Nation.  I received a follow-up email from Wendy Miller, who is the mother of our first Special Team player, Heather Miller.

STEELER  FOR  A  DAY 

The Pittsburgh Steelers had a very special player on the sidelines at practice on Wednesday, May 27th 2009.  Heather Miller, who is fighting cancer was selected as the " Steeler for a Day"  made possible by the "Make A Wish Foundation".  

Heather had the pleasure of spending the day with the Steelers team as a guest of Casey "The Big Snack" Hampton, so nicknamed by Hines Ward.  Her day started out with a limo ride to the Steelers training facility in Latrobe. 

Heather received a Pittsburgh Steelers jersey with her name across the back from Coach Tomlin before she would officially start the day of practice.  She kept company with wide-receiver, Hines Ward who did not practice.  Ward would act the reporter for the day asking Heather what position she wanted to play. Her answer?  Quarterback!  Watch out Big Ben, you may have some competition this year!  Ward asked who Heather would throw the ball to? Her answer was simply put without hesitation, you!  Smart kid here.  

Heather, you are an inspiration to us all and especially the team in Black n Gold.
